We are excited to announce that Steven Thrasher, the inaugural Daniel H. Renberg Chair of social justice in reporting and assistant professor of journalism at Northwestern’s Medill School of Journalism, has joined ISGMH’s core faculty group. Thrasher is a renowned journalist and scholar of HIV criminalization, racism, and homophobia, and was the recipient of the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association Journalist of the Year award in 2012, as well as the Al Neuharth Award for Innovation in Investigative Journalism in 2015. ISGMH faculty member, Dr. Christina Dyar, has received a 5 year K01 to study the health of lesbian, bisexual, pansexual, and queer women. The K01 is funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA). This five-year grant will fund a mixed-methods research project and Dyar’s further training in substance use research, experience sampling methods, qualitative/mixed methods, and intervention development. ISGMH is proud to announce that our faculty member and Associate Director of the EDIT Research Program, Dr. Lauren B. Beach, has been named an inaugural Third Coast HIV-related Cardiovascular and Sleep Disorders Career Development Program K12 (TC-CS K12) Scholar.
