Members of ISGMH faculty and staff have signed a statement against bigotry which was sent out by the steering committee of NU’s Organization of Women Faculty. We urge you to do the same.
Like many university campuses, Northwestern has been targeted by bigotry and with white supremacist symbols in recent weeks and over the years. The steering committee of the Organization of Women Faculty (OWF) is taking action against hatred. We collectively affirm:
We believe that a diverse and inclusive Northwestern is a strong Northwestern. We condemn all acts of bigotry on our campus. Recent racist acts here are unacceptable to us, and we stand against all acts of hate and in support of all members of our community. Hate has no place at Northwestern.
We invite all Northwestern faculty to sign this statement against bigotry online at https://www.northwestern.edu/nu-against-hate/. We also encourage our fellow faculty members to pledge to take their own personal action against hate. Faculty may consider sharing this statement in class, placing it on their syllabi or course website, or posting it on a lab or office door.
Together, let’s take a stand against hate and actively support everyone in our community.
