Dr. Héctor Carrillo recently presented “Rethinking Sexual Migration: Shifting Sexualities and Health Implications” for ISGMH’s Current Issues in LGBTQ Health lecture series. With an emphasis on the importance of recognizing the impact social factors have on health, Dr. Carrillo shared themes from his book Pathways of Desire: The Sexual Migration of Mexican Gay Men. Dr. Carrillo encouraged audience members working in sexual health and HIV prevention research to consider the social context of sexual behavior, the dynamics of interpersonal relationships, and the effects of structural inequalities in their work.
