The YRBS R01, a project in ISGMH’s EDIT program utilizing YRBS (Youth Risk Behavior Survey) data to assess alcohol use disparities among young sexual minority populations, was featured in the Huffington Post. The Huffington Post article highlights important recent LGBTQ wellness stories and cites results from a YRBS R01 publication indicating high school students identifying as bisexual or reporting having partners of multiple sexes were up to twice as likely as their heterosexual counterparts to engage in alcohol use.
Dr. Gregory Phillips is the principal investigator for the YRBS R01. Co-investigators include Drs. Michelle Birkett, Mark Hatzenbuehler, Michael Newcomb, and Brian Mustanski. Additional co-authors on the aforementioned publication include YRBS R01 team members Blair Turner, Paul Salamanca, and Rachel Marro.
