ISGMH director Dr. Brian Mustanski will be serving as a co-chair of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Sexual and Gender Minority Research Office Workshop on Methods and Measures in SGM-Related Health: Developing a Research Agenda. Dr. Mustanski is co-chairing this workshop with Dr. Bryn Austin of the Harvard Chan School of Public Health.
This workshop was organized in response to the 2016 21st Century Cures Act’s call for increased support of sexual and gender minority (SGM) health research. This workshop will specifically address section 404N of the Act which encourages NIH directors to “facilitate the development of valid and reliable methods for research relevant to sexual and gender minority populations.”
ISGMH postdoctoral research fellow Dr. Lauren Beach will also be attending the workshop as a participant.
ISGMH is proud to be among those advocating on a national level for improved SGM health research. Read more about the NIH Sexual and Gender Minority Research Office here.
